Pablo - I always try to be transparent with my positions. I had put VMW on as a short-term trade with in the money calls. My reasoning was that the option premium was worth the risk. But I have a hard time recommending that to others who may not have the expertise to manage that risk - so therefore EMC looked like a better option.

As it turned out, EMC held up relatively well dropping only 5.6% compared to over 34% for VMW. I find that intriguing as the market basically asseses more value to the "non-VMW" EMC today than it did before the announcement. There is something irrational about the discrepency between the two stock movements today.

Through your article you claim that you dont really want to own VMW because of high valuation which could be risky and state that EMC is a better play. However at the end you have a disclosure that you are VMW long. ????

Thanks for the consistantly well thought out ideas you post. I had almost forgotten about VMW and will have to go back and consider EMC again.
