Good column, Zachary. I've been eyeing ABVT as well. The current consolidation indeed could bode well. I'm looking out for heavier volume as it climbs out of that consolidation -- looking for it to approach its previous price of $67 before I get in. This continues to be a promising stock.

Level 3 is in the same business and yet it has been a bust for some time. With all the video apps and transmission of same, you would think that bandwith is finite. I am waiting for the day when the pipes are full and ABVT and LVLT can go cha ching.

Companies like are a good investment, as big cable companies continue talking about regulating the pipeline (see net neutrality), they will become the alternative or indeed the deterrent.

Watch GOOGLE. They have the right idea. 1 gigabit per second sounds really high to some people but that is the right baseline bandwidth to aim at today.

I have been preaching going to one gigabit to every subscriber for the last couple of years. If GOOGLE starts, the incumbents will have to follow.

It is inevitable because the speeds needed today for video apps to be successful is one gigabit per second and more (wired and wireless).
